Ein Zippo, mit dem ich eine sehr persönliche Erinnerung verbinde. Ich war 1997 für knapp 11 Monate nach Shilo kommandiert und habe dort eine sehr schöne und interessante Zeit verlebt. Leider wurde das deutsche Engagement dort im Jahre 2000 aus Kostengründen eingestellt.

G.A.T.E.S. war auf einer Base (CFB Shilo) der R.C.A. untergebracht. Dort habe ich auch dieses Zippo erstanden.

Interessant, da die RCAF eigentlich bereits seit 1968 nicht mehr besteht. Es gibt zwar weiterhin eine kanadische Luftwaffe, nur nennt sich diese nun Canadian Forces Air Command (AIRCOM).
